At Iroquois Family Dentistry, we know that dental stains can affect your appearance and your self-confidence. Some discoloration is inevitable, due to age, genetics, food, and other factors. Nevertheless, you can dramatically brighten your smile with one of three professional-strength teeth whitening options at our Nashville, TN, practice. We proudly offer take-home and in-office treatments, including Perfecta® Rev!™, Zoom!, and KöR® Whitening. Dr. K.B. Parkes, Dr. Gary Waltemath, and Dr. Karen S. Keenan can go over all of your options at an initial treatment consultation and help you choose the right whitening method for your needs.
New forms of whitening gel are very gentle, and your dentist can monitor your treatment to prevent significant discomfort.
Are You a Candidate for Teeth Whitening?
Traditional take-home and in-office whitening can reduce extrinsic dental stains on your dental enamel. This type of discoloration often appears when you routinely eat dark-colored foods and drinks. Common substances that lead to staining include red wine, tomato sauce, berries, and coffee. Genetics, smoking, age, and other factors can also cause external stains. While professional teeth whitening has been able to successfully treat extrinsic stains, advanced KöR whitening options available now provide an effective solution for both external and internal stains.
Patients who wish to pursue teeth whitening should be in good oral health. If you are suffering from decay or gum disease, you will need appropriate care before you can undergo treatment. Fortunately, dental sensitivity should no longer prevent you from receiving the cosmetic care you desire. New forms of whitening gel are very gentle, and your dentist can monitor your treatment to prevent significant discomfort.
Our Treatment Options
To help our patients conveniently achieve their goals, we offer a range of whitening products to meet their unique needs.
Perfecta REV! Take-Home Treatment
Perfecta REV! is a simple and convenient way to achieve the brighter smile you desire. We will provide trays to fit around your teeth, and you will fill the trays with patented Perfecta REV! gel. You will wear these trays for approximately 15 minutes every day, a much shorter time than that needed for traditional at-home care. This product contains 14 percent peroxide, a safe amount that can reduce sensitivity. At the same time, the peroxide can dramatically reduce dental stains by creating an oxidation reaction. Oxygen will move through your teeth to break down stained molecules chemically. At the same time, the gel will hydrate your teeth, further reducing discomfort.
Zoom! In-Office Whitening
Zoom! teeth whitening offers immediate results, so it can be a great choice if you want a faster treatment for an upcoming event. Zoom! may be more appropriate if you already have sensitive teeth because a member of our team will monitor the entire process. To perform this treatment, your practitioner will coat your teeth in whitening gel with a higher concentration of active ingredient. The gel is light activated, and after activation, oxygen molecules will break down stains. This process is typically repeated three times, usually taking 15 minutes per cycle. At the end of your procedure, Zoom! can lighten your smile by up to eight shades in under an hour.
In-office Zoom! whitening treatments can provide significant effects in less than an hour.
KöR is a state-of-the-art treatment that has changed the face of teeth whitening. This option combines both in-office and take home methods for more dramatic and longer-lasting results. Remarkably, KöR® can lighten your teeth by up to 14 shades and address internal stains caused my certain medications and other factors. Perhaps best of all, when you maintain periodic and very easy touch-up treatments, results are typically permanent. With your brighter smile, KöR can help you look much more youthful. At the same time, however, the treatment is suitable for younger individuals. Unlike other methods of whitening, this product can benefit patients as young as 14.
